Starting a Bonsai, Update

Update
An update on the Japanese maple twin trunk bonsai picture article I posted in May.
As can be seen, the starter bonsai maples are growing healthily; now is the time to start feeding at the dilutions recommended by the manufacturer. I use Phostrogen for the high nitrogen, and Tomorite for the tomato feed, never feed on to dry compost, the feed will burn the roots, so dampen first, then feed; bonsai should be evenly damp at all times anyway.
Feed the maples once per week until about mid July with Phostrogen: 1.5 teaspoon of the white powder in one imperial gallon of water, feed foliage and compost.
Followed by One week rest, then:
Once per week with Tomorite: 20ml in one imperial gallon, foliage and compost, feed until about mid September.
The maple roots feel sturdy and vigorous in the pot, I may start a little light wiring to better place the trunks; however, this is not yet necessary and is probably best left until next season.

OMG are you actually photographing your bonsai and showing it move from stage to stage? You are brilliant. I love this. I am going to have to remember to check back!!!
Thanks for the update - we get a real life Bonsai growing experience.
Very helpful!! Thank you. Do you know how to start an avocado plant? Mine haven't taken root at all:(
Bonsai tree growing is a favorite hobby for many people around the world. Tending a Bonsai tree is like orchestrating fine art.
I like bonsai trees. Got any more info?
Sweet plants. Hope it is still around
Hey Mick,
Voted up and I've been doing these types of maples in NJ for a couple of years. It is rewarding but sure takes a while! My avocado smoothie recipe also tells folks how to grow their own tree. It's simple, and you don't need those sticks and crap. Just throw the seed in a pot and step away! One more thing, your landscape painting was awesome in the questions! Are you self taught like me?
